Communication is the most important aspect of WYD. Before and especially during WYD. Important information is always passed on from The Archdiocesan WYD Coordinator --> Parish Group Leader --> Pilgrims. Each group leader is responsible to have the most up to date contact information, attend meetings and pass on all the information to their parish pilgrims. The first point of contact for pilgrims is always their parish group leader. This website along with our Facebook page is meant as a supplemental resource for pilgrims. If you have any individual questions please use the contact form.
Communication in Panama
Each leader is required to have a working phone with them in Panama. Information about events, or emergencies will be passed on only to the select leaders, and it is their responsibility to pass it along to their pilgrims. The Archdiocesan WYD coordinator may only be contacted by pilgrims in case of emergency. Each registered group leader may get a small subsidy for their phone plan or a sim card purchased in Panama. Information will also be posted on this website, and/or Facebook while in Panama for those who get lost or separated.
How to use a phone in Panama
LOCAL SIM CARDS
In order to buy a sim card in Panama your phone must be UNLOCKED. You can do so easily for a small fee through your service provided in Edmonton. The three main providers in Panama are:

This is great because you can immediately have your phone working before leaving the airport but they only have plans on Movistar which just gives you 1GB of data, some minutes and texts for $20. If you can wait it out then follow the below instructions to get the ultimate data plan.
You can also sign up for a pre-paid roaming plan through the following providers before leaving Edmonton:
